Day -1 ISTANBUL HIGHLIGHTS TOUR
Between 08:30 to 09:00 in the morning, you will be picked up from your hotel for a guided full day tour of Old City (Sultanahmet). We will see the following attractions; BLUE MOSQUE, one of the biggest mosques of Istanbul from 17th-century architecture is one of the principal adornments on the skyline of Istanbul. Also famous for its blue tiles and 6 minarets.HIPPODROME, The former center of sportive and political activities of Constantinople. You will be able to see the Obelisk from Egypt, Serpentine Column from Delphi and fountain of Willhelm. ST. SOPHIA, St. Byzantium largest cathedral, converted to mosque 1453 by the Ottoman Empire and today open as a museum to see both religions remains. TOPKAPI PALACE, largest and oldest palace in the world, Topkapi is the crown jewel of the OttomanEmpire. UNDERGROUND CISTERN The Basilica Cistern (Turkish: Yerebatan Sarnıcı – "Cistern Sinking Into Ground"), is the largest of several hundred ancient cisterns that lie beneath the city of Istanbul (formerly Constantinople), Turkey. The cistern, located 500 feet (150 m) southwest of the Hagia Sophia on the historical peninsula of Sarayburnu, was built in the 6th century during the reign of Byzantine Emperor Justinian. DOLMABAHCE PALACE The Dolmabahce Palace, a blend of various European architectural styles, was built between 1843 - 1856 by Karabet Balyan, the court architect of Sultan Abdulmecid. The three-storied palace built on a symmetrical plan has 285 rooms and 43 halls. The palace has survived intact with its original decorations, furniture, and the silk carpets and curtains. Its Surpasses all other palaces in the world in wealth and magnificence. ST. SAVIOUR CHORA (KARIYE) is considered to be one of the most beautiful surviving examples of a Byzantine church. In the 16th century, during the Ottoman era, the church was converted into a mosque and, finally, it became a museum in 1948. The interior of the building is covered with fine mosaics and frescoes. SULEYMANIYE MOSQUE is an Ottoman imperial mosque located on the Third Hill of Istanbul, Turkey. It is the largest mosque in the city, and one of the best-known sights of Istanbul.
